Vintage 1920's Damascene Shakudo Japanese gold and silver chain bracelet.

This unusual bracelet depicts Japanese scenes in 24ct gold and sterling silver using a technique called 'Damascening'. This process is the art of inlaying different metals into one another, in this case gold and silver set into an oxidised steel background. This technique has a long history in Japan. This type of jewellery is also known as Shakudo. We know the piece has 24ct gold inlay because it is indicated in the design marked '24K'.

This bracelet would most likely have been brought back from Japan in the 1920's as a souvenir. The bracelet depicts scenes of mountains, butterflies, houses and Mount Fuji.

MEASUREMENTS
The bracelet measures 16cm / 6.2" in length and 1.1cm / 0.4" in height.
