Antique Victorian locket featuring a anchor with a rope wrapped around it. An Anchor symbolises Hope during the Victorian era. The oval locket is set in silver, it opens to reveal two areas where pictures could be placed. The locket hangs from a long vintage flat linked chain set in 835.
The locket is a fantastic design, it feels substantial to hold and excellent in quality.
HISTORY
The locket has a long rich history, during the earlier centuries, they were used to carry good luck charms, mementoes, hair, powder and even poison. The locket secured its romantic status during the Victorian era, it became the most mysterious and alluring pieces of jewellery. Only the wearer knows what secrets lie within the locket. It was to be the ultimate love token. Pictures held in lockets were originally miniature portraits, these were gradually replaced with photographs.
