Antique Victorian 1882 Sterling Silver Pocket Watch

Details

Antique English sterling silver pocket watch 1882 featuring hand painted bright gold detailing and black roman numerals set onto a  white enamel background. The face of the watch is decorated with hand painted pink roses and green leaves. The front and the back of the watch has beautiful elaborate engravings.

 

To operate the watch a small key is provided to gently wind the watch up at the back of the watch and set the time. Please note the mechanisms are very delicate.

 

The watch has a number of large clear hallmarks indicating the piece is set in sterling silver from London in 1882, made by 'CN'. The maker was Charles Nicolet who was located on Charterhouse Street, Holborn, London. The jeweller was located next to the London jewellery disctict Hatton Garden.

 

The hallmarks are located on the inside of the piece and on the top ball and ring.

MEASUREMENTS

The watch measures 3.9cm / 1.5" (excluding the top ring) in diameter and 1.4cm / 0.5" in thickness.

 

CONDITION

The watch is in good antique condition. The glass on the front is in excellent condition, it is most probably been replaced as it is crystal clear. The enamel on the front of the piece has a hair line crack running over the number eight.

 

Please note with all of our pocket watches we sell them as 'not working' although this one does we can not guarantee its mechanise due to its age.
