Antique George V 9ct rose gold oval locket. The design on the front of the locket is reflected on the back of the piece. The locket opens to shows two areas to place pictures.

The locket hangs from a new 9ct rose gold chain. On the back of the locket it has a number of marks indicating the piece is 9ct gold hallmarked in Chester in 1912.

The Locket is perhaps the most mysterious and alluring pieces of jewellery. Only the wearer knows what secrets lie within the locket. It has to be the ultimate love token. During the Victorian era, young Victorian women would hide a picture of a man they admired, if the man offered up a lock of hair a marriage proposal usually would follow. Lockets were considered a statement of an intention to marry.
